Scenes from a Memorable Year — Jim Trull Photography

2025 turned out to be one of my favorite years for photography. I had the chance to visit some incredible places and came home with images that brought me a lot of joy. Some of my best mornings were spent close to home at Lake Jordan. I’ve been there many times, but each visit offers something new-especially when the early light hits the water or the fog rolls in just right.

This year also took me to the North Carolina mountains, where I always enjoy photographing along the Blue Ridge Parkway. The winding roads, mountain layers, and quiet overlooks are perfect for slowing down and enjoying nature. The light and color in those hills never seem to disappoint.

I made two trips to New York City-one focused on street photography and the other planned around Manhattanhenge and night shots of the skyline. Both were exciting in different ways and pushed me to see the city with fresh eyes. Out west, I joined two photo workshops: one in Crested Butte, Colorado to catch the fall colors, and another in Yosemite National Park. Both places had been on my bucket list for years as they were both new to me. Both of them left a strong impression.

We also enjoyed a Viking cruise down the Rhine River, and I found a few quiet scenes along the way that stood out. I rounded out the year with shorter trips to Carolina Beach and the Outer Banks, where I focused on slowing down, enjoying nature, and photographing what caught my eye.

The images below aren’t necessarily my best photos of the year, but each one brings back a special memory for me. Whether it was the place, the light, or just how I felt at the time, these moments stood out. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did capturing them.
